3 get Optimist Club scholarships
COLUMBUS – The Optimist Club of Columbus has selected three area students as recipients of its annual $500 scholarships.
The winners are Gabrielle Goc of Columbus High School, Ryan Schnell of Lakeview and Lindsay McElhose of Scotus Central Catholic.
The scholarships were awarded based upon academics, extra-curricular activities, community involvement, goals and needs.
The scholarship is partly funded by the annual Optimist Golf Tournament. This year the tournament will be held on June 25 at Quail Run.
The Optimist Club meets every Wednesday at noon in the HyVee meeting room. Club projects focus on the youth of Columbus.
