Simplifying pesticides analysis
The new guide transforms the way pesticides and persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as PCBs, PCDDs and PCDFs are analyzed. The newly revised, all-inclusive solution provides step-by-step information on using the QuEChERS extraction method, including all required consumables. In addition, the Pesticide Analyzer Reference assists users in method development for analyses of pesticides and POPs using the Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum XLS triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS. The TSQ Quantum XLS continues to demonstrate that it provides a leading technology for high-throughput, multi-residue screening of a large number of pesticides in a single analytical run, with the highest sensitivity and matrix selectivity. The Pesticide Method Reference can save weeks of method set-up time typically required to optimize analysis conditions for a large number of compounds. All information is provided on compact disc or can be directly uploaded to an instrument. A search tool for compounds, based on Pesticide screening analyses are challenging because of the vast number of pesticide compounds containing a wide range of chemistries. Building on the success of the original Pesticide Analyzer Reference package and Thermo Fisher’s extensive experience in pesticide analysis, the company has developed this expanded package that increases the number of pesticides and contaminants scientists can now analyze. The new Pesticide Analyzer Reference package provides maximum performance in the most challenging The Thermo Scientific Pesticide Analyzer Reference package generates proven SRM transitions for more than 700 different pesticides, POPs and other organic contaminants, giving the highest level of performance. Pesticide samples may be extracted using the QuEChERS technique and can be located using CAS number, name or chemical formula, making it quick and simple to identify pesticides, dioxins, furans and other contaminants.Search Cas Number - News

Contador was cleared of doping during last year's Tour by the Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC), but the case has been appealed to the Court for Arbitration in Sport (CAS) by both the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the World Anti-Doping Agency

The 60 millionth substance, a potential antiviral compound, was assigned the CAS Registry Number 1298016-92-8. The substance was discovered by the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, a key drug research institutions in

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) issued a press release on Tuesday announcing the addition of seven chemicals to the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) under the European Union’s REACH Regulation.
All of the chemicals are officially classified as Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or Reproductive toxicants (CMRs). Their addition brings the total number of chemicals on the Candidate List to 53. Adding a chemical to REACH’s Candidate List is the first step toward subjecting it to REACH’s Authorization process , whereby the chemical can be used only if specifically authorized by EU authorities.
In this brief post we present a bit more information on these latest seven SVHCs, including the extent of their presence in U.S. commerce and their main uses.
The table below presents information (together with linked sources) on each of the seven chemicals, including:
the specific hazard characteristic(s) that led to their identification as SVHCs; available information on how the chemicals are used, drawn from any of several U.S. and foreign sources; whether they were reported as being manufactured in the U.S. in the 2006 reporting cycle of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Inventory Update Reporting (IUR) program, and, if so, in what volume range; and whether or not the chemicals have been registered under REACH (if so, a link to the registration dossier is provided).A few interesting observations:
At least six of the seven Substances of Very High Concern are reported as being manufactured in the U.S., according to the 2006 IUR data. (The seventh may also be manufactured here and not reported in the 2006 IUR due either to its falling below the reporting threshold of 25,000 pounds per year per site, or to its identity having been declared to be confidential.) Four of the seven are High Production Volume (HPV) chemicals (manufactured in amounts exceeding one million pounds annually) in the U. S., according to the 2006 IUR data. Another falls just under that production level. Use information is generally more readily available from foreign sources – REACH, the European Chemical Substances Information System (ESIS), the OECD – than it is from the EPA’s IUR. Much of the use information reported under the IUR is designated by the submitters as Confidential Business Information (CBI), Not Readily Obtainable (NRO) or is simply not reported.Search Cas Number - Bookshelf
