Triathlon camp offered to Fort Collins, Loveland students
The three-week camp is open to all Fort Collins- and Loveland-area high school students interested in participating in triathlons. Al-though the triathlon is not yet offered as a sanctioned high school activity, it is the fastest-growing sport in the U.S.Heading up the program is 2008 Kona Ironman Amateur womens champion Wendy Mader, owner of t2coaching and head coach for the boys and girls swimming teams at Rocky Mountain High School. Mader also coaches the Northern Colorado High School triathlon team, a district-wide after-school program offered every spring and fall.
Athletes will combine workouts and training in swimming, biking and running, and will learn about transitions between the sports. Athletes will also spend time conditioning, doing yoga, spin-ning, learning about nutrition and training, and developing life-long habits to maintain an active life-style. Sessions will be customized for all abilities.
The camp will be 8 to 11 a.m. July 5-22 based at the Northside Aztlan Community Center, 112 E. Willow St.
Included in the registration fee is entry into the July 23 Loveland Sprint Triathlon. Registration deadline is July 2.
