In 1932, she began her career with Boston Suffolk Bank where she worked for 12 years. On June 28, 1941, she married Walter Myers Fowler. Dorothy was a volunteer candy striper at the Winchester Hospital for many years, a volunteer treasurer for eight years for the local chapter of the Red Cross, a member of the Lioness Club and women's Masonic organizations including Eastern Star, and became president of the local chapter of the Beauseant.
