Budget cuts force library to change hours
Like many agencies and organizations across the country, the Sumter County Library has been facing difficult decisions caused by budget cutbacks at the state and local level. Executive Director Robert Harden said the cuts have already affected most departments, and now the library system is being forced to cut even further. As of Aug. 1, all three Sumter branches will reduce their operating hours.
"These are challenging times," Harden said in a letter to library patrons. "Thankfully, all our branch locations will remain open.
