Owner of Bravo's to open bistro downtown

A third new Italian restaurant is coming to Wichita.

Kas Zendeli, who owns Bravo's Italiani in Valley Center, is opening Italian Bistro in the former Restaurant 155 space in the Market Centre downtown at First and Market.

This follows news from Melad Stephan , who is opening Luca Italian Kitchen in his former Uptown Bistro space in Old Town Square later this month.

Bocco Deli owner Nathan Toubia , who used to work for Lidia's in Kansas City, also is opening an Italian restaurant. His as-of-yet-unnamed business is opening soon in the former Sugar Sisters Bakery & Cafe space near Central and Oliver.

Zendeli, who is Albanian, plans a traditional Italian menu for his new restaurant. He's keeping his Valley Center restaurant, too.

Is he a glutton for punishment having two restaurants in two cities?

"Every business is punishment," Zendeli says. "Since 1969 I'm in this punishment."

He's been in America since 1987. He moved from Dallas to Valley Center two years ago.

Zendeli is opening in Wichita at the demand of customers, he says.

Patrick Ahern with Grubb & Ellis/Martens Commercial Group represented the landlord in the deal, and Kirk Royse with J.P. Weigand & Sons represented Zendeli.

"The customers make me, to be honest."

Though Zendeli is opening soon, he won't say when exactly because he wants to have a soft opening without a crush of diners.

"Better to get prepared."

Hate to pull an "I told you so," but it was about a month ago when Have You Heard? declared that mattress stores are almost giving yogurt shops a run for their money with so many opening in Wichita.

Wichita's third Beds For Less store will open Thursday at 3236 N. Rock Road. That's in the same center as Buffalo Wild Wings .

Owner Dustin Pullman says all the new competition doesn't bother him a bit.

Duke is a horse that immediately catches everyone's eye. He's a sweetheart who loves attention and has excellent ground manners - loads, stands for farrier, bathes, comes when called. He's the first to reach the gate if he sees us pull the trailer out of the barn. Lots of experience on trails but always with other horses. Goes through water, over bridges, over stumps, up and down steep rocky hills. He's happiest when he's in the lead but will follow on the trail. Used to traffic, ATVs, and dogs. He has been primarily my husbands horse since he was 3 years old. Selling due to needing a smaller horse and one less spirited. I think he would make an excellent competitive trail horse as he has stamina that can carry him with energy for miles and miles. Requires an experienced rider as he needs some retraining - my husband has let him do what he wants for too long.
